May Monthly News

The start of summer is officially here! Many of you may be fishing this long weekend. Do not forget the General Meeting on Tuesday evening! This month’s speaker is Bill Grady, an avid fly fisherman that is going to give us some tips for fishing in the surf along our beautiful coast. This is the time of year to head to the beach. Bill is an expert on what is biting and what works. We are expecting a good turnout so arrive early.
Work prevented me from attending the fly tying class on Tuesday night. Those who did attend got to rub elbows with fly tying legend, Bob Clouser! I really hate my job sometimes! Members were tying flies for the fishing trip on Saturday, June 1st. Members will be launching from the Wabasso boat ramp just north of Vero. If you have a boat and need a fishing buddy let us know at the General Meeting. If you want to go but do not have a boat let us know. We will get everyone connected this Tuesday night. Rumor has it that Mr. Clouser may attend and share some fly tying information with us. I hope the rumor is true. If you have had the pleasure of meeting Bob Clouser you know that his enthusiasm for fly tying is contagious.
Our south Florida canal fishing trip was a success! We had a large turnout. It was my first trip and I cannot wait to go back next year. I want to thank everyone that set up and prepared for the fish fry. Randy, Ron, Joe and David were the principal people behind the success but other members of our group sacrificed time on the water as well. All of them deserve a round of applause and a debt of gratitude. This is what makes our association one of the best in the country!
